November 3rd, 1969, Malik was born and raised in
Algiers, ALgeria.

Back in the 1980's Malik taught himself to play his
first instrument, the acoustic guitar. he started
playing Chaabi and Berber songs with a great
influance from the famous and masters of these
traditional music, such as: Hadj el Anka, Mrezek,
Idir, and many others.
After experiancing the acoustic guitar he then
learned to play Mandol, which is a traditional
folklorik guitar used to play Chaabi and Andalouse
music.

Not until high school, he grew a great interest
in pop and folk music and became fan of the
Beatles. Along with friends, Malik enjoyed
singing the Beatles' repertoire in parties,
along with other favorites such as: Elton John,
Eagles, and Eric Clapton.

Malik also enjoys listning to other world
music, such as Oriental, Occidental, and
especially those who perform on traditional
acoustic instruments. One of his favorite
occidental artist is French singer Charles
Aznavour.

In San Francisco, 2002, he met great people
who share the same music concepts and joined
"The Dunes" band. Malik plays acoustic
guitar, mandol; and also sings Kabyle, Chaabi
and Rai music.
